HPB Presents: Russian Flowers

I received this product of my own choosing, free of charge for my honest, non-bias review from the Born Pretty Store.

I wanted to join in on the Llama Nails Challenge this month which is: FLOWERS, and at the same time participate on the Hobby Polish Bloggers (HPB) Link-Up this month which is also Flowers. May Flowers. So Two Challenges in one go!
I have been terrible at keeping up with Challenges here and there, but every now and then I like to pick them up and join in.

For this manicure I used four coats of MISA - Russian Sage. I never quiet agreed with this polish. I thought it would be more opaque when I bought it, and I don't really care for VNL, so I wanted to find a way so that I would like to wear this polish. What better than to pull out a sponge and make a gradient(!).

I sponged the tips using Yes Love - 27 - Shiny Glitter. A polish I got while I lived in Spain. It is actually a brand from Portugal, but it was widely available in the shops around Madrid. I never came across this brand on my many trips to Alicante, so it might not be available all around Spain. Just so that is said.

Misa - Russian Sage gradient with Yes Love - 27 - Shiny Glitter. With BornPrettyStore flowers.
I wanted to add some flowers to this, and I received some lovely water decals from BornPrettyStore that I wanted to use for this Challenge.  Purple Floral Butterfly Pattern Sticker T112.

The instructions are pretty simple, take protective film of, soak in water, add decal to nail, remove backing paper, top coat to protect your design. Easy.

The decals comes with a protective film you have to remove. That was not a problem as it was not attached in any way to the paper with the actual decals on them. When I pulled the decals out of the pocket/pack the protective film stayed behind. This did not effect the design in any way.

Like with all water decals, you cut out the pattern you want, drop it in some water and let is sit for a little bit. I was expecting it to be kinda like water tattoos where you put the image on to the surface you want to it go, and then slide the backing paper off.

Notice how my manicure is sporting some white flowers with a purple outline, and some full on purple flowers?

If you used the T112 decals like I described above: that you place them onto your nail (backing paper up, image down), after it was done soaking in water, you would get the white flowers with the purple outline, but you could slide the decal of the backing paper before adding them to your nail.
I found it to be easiest by placing my thumb on the image and slide my index finger down over the backing paper, as the backing paper would follow the index finger and reveal the decal, you could choose which way you wanted them. Purple flowers, or white flowers with purple outline. Since they are different on each side.

On the BornPrettyStore shop you see them as purple flowers, little do you know, that they can actually be both. In my book, that my friends, that is a huge bonus.

T112 from BornPrettyStore.

By having them like this, you can create unique look by mixing and matching the decals on your nails. I really like this feature, and I love the finished result. As you can see from the picture above I was able to overlap two of the designs to make it look continuous, with the vines that goes off the flowers meeting together in a loop at the bottom of my nail.

If you want to get hold of the T112 - Purple Floral Butterfly Pattern it is sold for 2.86 $ but at the time of writing this post, on sale for 2.15 $ .BornPrettyStore offers free shipping worldwide, and if you use my code (RAMG10) you get 10% off your order.

Happy Polishing!

Carcassonne - nail art

This picture above here, might make you confused, do no fear. This is a nail related post.
For those of you that follow me regularly, might remember that it was my birthday not long ago. My boyfriend got me a lot of stuff for my birthday (you can read what he got me in this blog-post), one of those things he got me for my birthday was Carcassonne expansions. Carcassonne is a fun little game about building castles and roads, and it's one of my favorite (board)games in the world. Next to Labyrinth, which is without a doubt my favorite. If you are into boardgames you should check it out.
PS: Maybe not get this specific expansion that is shown with the picture below, it's a bit too fiddly, I prefer the other expansions.

Carcassonne - The Princess & the Dragon

Example of Carcassonne in play.
So my boyfriend told me he wanted to do my nails for my birthday. We grabbed some acrylics, and polish and dived into it. This is not the first time he has done my nails, he did a Serenity (movie) manicure . In the previous mani, we did not use any acrylics, and he has been dying to show of his acrylic skills.

First challenge. He wasn't happy with my selection of green polishes. So I had to go ahead and mix them up until we got the shade we wanted. 2 drops of ESSIE - Mojito Madness and 3 drops of ESSIE - Navigate Her seemed to be the shade he wanted.

ESSIE - Mojito Madness and ESSIE - Navigate Her

4 nails on each hand got painted green, and the thumb was painted grey with MISA - Working Hard, Hardly Working. Stamping using Ciaté - Vintage Paint Pots

The backing of the tiles in Carcassonne and the Bundlemonster plate I used for stamping.

Once the nail polish was all dry we got the acrylics out.

I was sneaky and got some pictures while he was busy doing my nails.

You can see he has placed out the tiles he was recreating next to him.

After half an hour we had a break. This is what it was all looking like then. You can see the pieces taking form. It was getting dark outside, so sorry for the terrible pictures.

He wanted to use more time on this, but I had to draw the line somewhere. He was keeping me busy while he was painting by feeding me white wine, and after a while it got nearly impossible to keep the hands still.
I did dent my nails over night, so sorry for the rough look, but here are some pictures of them finished.

Spark up the Russian Sage

Spark Me Up - Russian Sage mix today. Not pink, but lilac with some pink shimmer.

2 coats of Misa - Russian Sage, and dabbed on some H&M - Spark Me Up.
Drying time was a bit long with Russian Sage, and was still semi wet 30 min later. Looking at the colour makes it so worth it.
Spark Me Up was a fun and easy to work with glitter. It looks like a tiny firework display. I bet its great over black.

I Love Polish

As if that was a surprise.

Back in town, and back into blogging.
I start this year with a Challenge me and Mishka started last year. The Cheeky Girl Challenge.
Here we take 1 plate, 1 image, each Friday, and make a manicure out of it.
Giving you ideas on what to use all the plates for, and to challenge us to actually try something new, and  not just use a few of the images in a set, but to use them ALL.

This Friday is CH *stops mid typing looking around for her plates*
CH40, we choose the tiny image to the bottom right with "I <3 polish".

I choose something suitable girly for this and used three pinks.

1 coat of Candy Girl - Misa
Added some striping tape and Orly - Preamp over.
Removed the tape and stamped using Barry M - Fuschia.

MSMD: Christmas Bling

Inspired by Lacquer or Leave Her! manicure last week called Christmas Bling. I created this mani.

Sorry for the tip-wear, I wore this for a day before I got to take pictures of it.

Look at those glitters!!!

And as of my dating life, I am sure you are waiting for an update?

Back to the nails. Aren't they lovely? the rhinestones I used are 2 mm, and I'm guessing the one Mishka used are 1 mm or 1.5 mm, so I used only one rhinestone for each nail, but I love the look.
I should get some different sizes rhinestones as well. The kit I bought are from Bundlemonster, so if you are looking for a good starting set, they have some great ones.

Twinpost: Blow blow up my Blowfish?

This time its CH38, and a blowfish image.
I have to say, this is the funnies I have done so far. I love it.
and I got to try my BO stamping polish from BornPrettyStore.

For this manicure I used:
BO - Olive Green (13)
H&M - Fantasy Ocean
Sinful Color - See you soon
Misa - Toxic Seduction

Forgot to take a picture of the background, sadly.
First I started out with a layer of Toxic Seduction, sponged a bit of Fantasy Ocean, and See you Soon over, to create depth to the background. Then I stamped over using Olive Green.

For those of you, who are interested in how things are going with dating and stuff. Well.

Got this on my door.

Don't forget to see what Miskha, from Lacquer or Leave Her! did with the image. You can see her post using the same plate as I did, over here.

I is for Incognito

This is the manicure I made for my date this weekend.
I wanted something subtle, yet pretty. Classy, but not over the top, when it came to nail art, and still not a normal french.

Funny enough. This manicure reminds me of a dice-set I have for RPG's. Its the same shimmer in it.

For this manicure I used Depend French manicure set, for the white tips, and Misa - Candy Girl as base coat. I used two coats of that.

I am your Girl Next Door

I have been in the UK for a good month now. I have dodged away flirtatious men, and girls ( yupp, had a few of them as well), since I got here. Maybe I am the "Girl Next Door". But it feels odd to be flirted with, after so many years of being in a relationship. It's a new journey.
After 7 years of being in a relationship with someone ( Relationship 1: 3 years, Relationship 2: 4 years) with only 3 weeks break between them. It's safe to say, this is new to me.

So far I have had an in-game ( World Of Warcraft) date with a guildie, a "date" by txt (with the same guildie), various suggestions, flirty comments, and "I want you to be the mother of my future kids" (!!).

So with all this on my mind, I grabbed Misa- Girl Next Door. And wore it on it's own.
(wow, that's really deep ms.secretary, really deep)

I think this would be even better layered over another polish, or even for a french.
I think I had 3-4 coats here...

Where I had my, by-txt-date

After all that thinking, you just need to relax with a good cup  of chai.

Twinpost: I'll be wearing my Flip Flops

YaY! Its Friday!!

This weeks Cheeky Girl Challenge, we are doing CH37. The image we selected was the Flip Flops.
Shoot me now.
I hated this image.
It didn't stamp well for me, at all.

But after a few hours of banging my head against the wall, I managed to get it to look somewhat decent.

I used Misa - Working hard, hardly working
Makeup Mekka - Strawberry Daiquiri
Makeup Mekka - Green and Tonic
Depend - 124

G is for Green

Here is another festive Christmas-y manicure.
Todays manicure is for the ABC challenge at Llama Nails (FB)  . My G is for Green. Yeah I know, kinda obvious.

May I just pause for a moment, and say ...wow... I love this.

Sunlight w/flash

Indoors

and then I did something I'm not very proud of. I added Barielle - Elle's Spell over the green. Its denser that I thought it was. My bad.

Lets see if we can fix it / make it work, non the less.

What do you think? Maybe Elle's Spell wasn't such a bad idea after all...

C is for Capitalism

So I wanted to play catch-up on one of the groups I am in. And one of them is an ABC challenge.
So if A is for Anchors, and B is for Bubbles, next up is C.

So why not Capitalism?

(this will also be my E for Economy-manicure)

For this manicure I used Bundlemonster plate BM319. Cheekyplate CH54, and CH55.

Polishes:

Misa - Working Hard, Hardly Working
Misa - Office Polish-tics
ESSIE - Mojito Madness
Savina - Coral
Wet n Wild - Black Creme (stamping)

Misa - Working hard, Hardly working

How you enjoyed this manicure, and if you are wondering where my inspiration comes from.
