Fun With Flag - A Blogger Collaboration

If you regularly hang out on the internet I am sure you have seen this post on 9gag, Facebook or even Pinterest lately. That within one flag, you can often find other flags.

That is what started this idea, and as I looked up from my screen in the office, I caught a glance of another rerun of Big Bang Theory on one of the large TVs we have here. This was one of the "Fun With Flag" episodes, where Dr.Sheldon Cooper talks about flag-history on the Youtube series he has.

...and the idea was created.

I reached out to a handful of bloggers asking if they wanted to join in on the fun. I was overwhelmed with the response, and so thrilled that they found the time to join in on this "Fun With Flag" collaboration.

That instead of doing flag manicures only for patriotic reasons, I wanted to do them united with other bloggers, as a sign of unity. We are all in this hobby together, and borders mean nothing.

I am from Norway, so there will be no surprise for many of you that I have chosen to write about the flag of my home country.

Prior to the 17th century Norway had a flag with a golden lion with crown and axe on a red background, but our union with Denmark would put an end to this flag. When Norway in 1814 became independent, the golden lion was brought back and put in the upper left corner (the canton) on the Danish flag.

But it was not going to last for long. Norway joined a union with Sweden and needed to change their flag. Out of respect to the Swedish union and the historical friendship with Denmark, the Parliament wanted the flag to represent this by having something blue, red and white in the flag.
After much back and forth for almost a 100 years the Norwegian flag as we know it today was accepted. 9th of June 1905 the Norwegian flag was raised.

It Better Be Math

Some people hate math, and others enjoy it. I consider myself to be somewhere in between those two. It depends on the type of math...

I used to have a professor that was incredibly awesome. He would make a joke about any type of math, and then spend the rest of the session explaining how the equation (or any type of mathematically question that was the topic that day) worked. I loved it, and it is not a surprise that while I had this professor, my math grades where good.

So when I got my hands on the Scholar Collection plate, and it had math written all over it, I wanted to start out easy.

I started out using Barry M - Gelly - Lychee as base coat. I made black french tips with Wet & Wild - Black Creme, and stamped using the same Wet & Wild.

I am not quite agreeing with the shade of Lychee, I don't think it fits very well with my pale skin at the moment, but as soon as I get a bit of a tan, I think this polish will look a lot better on me.

OTT Pink

Picture from Pinterest

I know it's not Wednesday anymore, but I was so busy with all the other posts that needed to go out. So it's a day late. It's also Mean Girls 10 year anniversary, at the end of this post, you will find Inlinkz with load of links to other girls that also wore pink on Wednesday. Be sure to check em out.

Today I decided to go completely OTT (over the top).

I used the new Barry M - Silk - Blossom.
If you have followed my blog for a while, you know I don't usually do this kind of stuff, but I decided to give it a try.
Nothing wrong in trying.

I started out with a french tip using Sinful Color - Snow Me White, and did some lines on my index finger. Over that I added Barry M - Blossom. I was wondering how it would look over the white, to soften the look of the intense white tips. I forgot to take a before picture of this step. This is with one coat of Barry M - Blossom.

Then I went in to add some rhinestones. Part of me really like this, and part of my find it really gross. So hopefully you will all be in between.

Be kind, Rewind

It's a great movie, if you haven't seen it, you should. I recommend it.

Its time for the next plate in the Cheeky Girl Challenge. Today its CH51. Which means there are only 4 plates left! Oh no! What a long, strange trip this has been. It's an end of an era. In 4 weeks time me and Mishka from Lacquer or Leave Her! has successfully made a manicure with every single Cheeky Summer Plate there is, selecting one image from each plate.

One coat of Sinful Color - Snow Me White, used a nail art striper in black to seperate the nail in two, stamped using Wet and Wild - Black.

If you want to know what Mishka did with this plate, jump over to this link right here.

4th Of July Manicure

I deserve some credit for my dedication.
I made this manicure 2 months ago cause I was afraid I would miss it. I was just not having it.

This manicure had to be made.

I used two coats of H&M - Red Nail, for the french, then made a ribbon using ESSIE - Bobbing for Baubles, and finished it all off with a white nail sticker I got from Ebay.

Happy 4th of July!

I is for Incognito

This is the manicure I made for my date this weekend.
I wanted something subtle, yet pretty. Classy, but not over the top, when it came to nail art, and still not a normal french.

Funny enough. This manicure reminds me of a dice-set I have for RPG's. Its the same shimmer in it.

For this manicure I used Depend French manicure set, for the white tips, and Misa - Candy Girl as base coat. I used two coats of that.

D is for Dailies

So I am all in The World Of Warcraft today. And when I was wondering what to do for my ABC challenge next, it sure had to be something related to my game.

Dailies.

For those of you whom are not in the know:
Dailies are different from ordinary quests cause they can be repeated, over and over again, but only once a day, while as quests are a once in a life time event.
This will give you reputation with the faction/clan of the person you do the quests for.
This can give you mounts/gear/ or other fun/useful stuff in-game.

Me and one mount I acquired from doing dailies.

For this manicure I used Cheeky plate CH48.
Orly - Viridian Vinyl
Makeup Mekka - Remember 79'

Look! It matches my teapot!

Heavily cloudy that day, but at least this get the color right.

Everywhere I see, I see dailies!!

Summer Challenge - Day at the Seaside

Back and being cheerful. Today I have been at the Farmers Market, and bought some Honey. I get my honey from the same farm every single year, and its so good (!!). They live a few hours away from Oslo, so I cant really get there and buy whenever I am out of it. So the Farmers Market is my only shot at getting it. I was so excited!

I also had burger that was made with venison from Red Deer from "Løiten Gård", I visit them every year, and its the best burger I have ever had. Happy belly, lets get over to some polish.

Lets start out with an aqua color, by go to aqua is Depend 246. As seen bellow.

Lets add some waves to create the sea. BM - 209 has the perfect image.

I love this color, its amazing. Its so bright!

I left some space at the tips for a french, I used China Glaze -Blue Iguana.

Makes me dream of going back to Spain, where my hubby's family has a house. Just lean back and relax.

Exotic Laces in green

Get ready for something exotic.
This is Exotic Encounters, french tipped with Jolly Holly from China Glaze. Stamped using Bundlemonster plate XXX, with WnW - Black Creme.

Lets take a look at Exotic Encounters, first.

And then for the nail art.

Have a great weekend!

A England - Two for French

Today I was to show you a manicure I tested out.
I am sure you have heard of Saran Wrap Nail Art. I wanted to give it a go, and decided to use Tristam, and Morgan Le Fay from A England.

I started out with one coat of Morgan Le Fay, its a milky white holo, comes on very sheer. I left it dry for a while and added another coat. I don't have picture of this step, sadly.

I grabbed some plastic wrapping, and added some Tristam. And french tips in Tristam.
This is my first attempt on this, but I think the finishing result was very good, even thou its very sheer.

Color Club - Alter Ego

As you might have seen from my latest haul post, I bought Color Club - Alter Ego.
Its a gold, purple, almost a duo chrome shimmer.
Its from the Keep It Undercover Collection 2011, spring.
I can definitely see myself try to stamp over this, this fall, but to me, this isn't a spring shade.
I bought it from Nailsupplies.

Its so pretty, and its also my first Color Club polish. So lets take a look at it, as a full mani.

So pretty. Don`t you think?
I could not keep my hands off it, and made a french using WnW Black Creme.

Dressed in a plain grey office dress, these nails are a hit!
What way would you wear it?

Summer challenge: Blue, Aqua, and green mani

Today's Summer Challenge is to make a mani, with the following colours; Blue, Aqua and Green.
I wasn't quite sure what kind of blue, would classify as Aqua, so I found this sheet for reference.

pale aqua(T)148184
pale aqua blue(T)184
pale aqua green(T)148162+
pale blue(R)171184
pale blue(RC)172185
pale blue(S)186232
pale blue(T)184202
pale blue(TC)154264
pale blue-green(R) 148

A dictionary of colours, I am impressed.
The other girls have been doing some amazing manis today, so without further ado, here is my mani.

For this mani, I used 3 coats of Savina - Royalty, stamped using the BM 206 and China Glaze - Jolly Holly, and tipped with IsaDora - 626 - Blue Sky.

What are you wearing today? Send me a link below. :)
