Bring on the NEON

Today I have for you a very cool nail polish.

The company I work with was going to a Summer Resort for the day to relax by the pool and just get to know everyone that works here. It was out in the middle of no-where. Obviously we where excited. There where large iron gates welcoming us (there where lots of mentioning of Hunger Games and similar movies), and when they open up we saw where we would be locked in for the next 10 hours. A small pool, a large party tent with a hired in DJ and a bunch for bartenders/caterers.

I was wearing these awesome looking nails. And now I get to show them to you. since I stressed so much about having them done for the party, I was doing these at 3-4 am, and started at work at 10 am, since I really needed the rest, I decided to take the picture the following day. This picture above was taken at the party. Super Bright. So was my toes, but I will spare you the look of those.

Without further ado, here is Claire's - Dizzy over Sinful Color - Irish Green (neon).

Since I was working with a neon, I started out with one coat of Sinful Color - Snow Me White, then added two-three coats of Sinful Color - Irish Green, and finished off with two coats of Claire's - Dizzy.

How are you incorporating Neon to your summer?

Birthday Haul

13th of May! Today is my birthday. I am so excited. The day is going to be filled with cake, and my boyfriend is making me Italian pizza (the proper way). We are having stuffed mushrooms for starters and Vino Verde (my favorite wine in the world!).

Cherry blossom design on my cake

I went to Herefordshire not long ago, to visit some friends and do some shopping. This is what I got:

Not the biggest of hauls, but I needed some more summer colours, and these seemed to suit my mood just fine. I also picked up another nude shade of brown. I have no idea why.

Ciaté - Strictly Legal

Ciaté doesn't really got a good reputation, but since this was on sale, I decided to get it anyway.

Barry M - Acid Yellow, Barry M - Lime Green, Barry M - Superdrug Limited Edition Yellow.

MSMD - Color Blocks

This manicure is inspired by Lovely In Lacquer : Designer Inspired: Kate Spade Color Blocks, and tiny bit inspired by The Nailasaurus Half/Stud/Half which I though was such a cute idea.

 Great bloggers both of them.

For this manicure I started out with one coat of FNUG - Fashion Show, my go-to nude color. I picked up ALL my neons. Which basically means I got all four of them.
My neon collection might be small, but they are good colors. I like them. If I see more neons from Sinful Colors, I'm thinking about getting them, but we will see. This is the third, or fourth manicure using neons.
Savina - Dazzle, Sinful Colors - Neon Melon, Sinful Colors, Irish Green, and Sinful Colors - Summer Peach.

I taped half my nail, colored one part with the neon, leaving the rest in the nude polish, next time I do something like this I will use a white between those two layers to make the neon pop more, as the Neon Melon changed color.
Looking away from that little mishap I am very happy with how this manicure turned out.

To finish of the look, I added studs.

Cheeky Girls Challenge: Ship o'hoi

It's time for another Cheeky Girls Challenge. Summer hit in an a ship loads of other challenges so we completely lost track of this one. But we are back. Today me and Mishka from Lacquer or Leave Her! will be showing you two different ways of using this plate.
We selected the ship image on this plate.

To be honest. I did one ages ago (03. may), but wasn't very happy with how it turned out, so I got two for you today.

Let's start with my fail manicure.
I used Sinful Colors - Kissy, it took three coats for full opacity. Then I stamped with Mash - 50, using Wet n Wild -Black. I finished it off using various versions of Cheeky plate - CH49. Two full stamps and two isolated pictures.

Taken and edited 3rd of May, so still with the old watermark.

That's just too messy. Can't use that. I was thinking. See those tiny black spots on my skin? That's thorns. I was gardening like crazy, and had loads of tiny thorns all over my dinky little hands. I feel so sorry for them.

So, when I chatted to Mishka recently, we agreed to take this challenge up again, and really stick to it, and finish the series. We are on CH49, not that many plates left. If you are interested to see all the manicures I have done using the Cheeky Summer Collection you can either enter Cheeky -> in the search box over here, or you can visit my FB page, and there is an album there with all the pictures.

And now for the second manicure made using the CH49 plate from Cheeky Summer Collection. Let's make this one count shall we?

I started out with two coats of Depend - 246. I think this is the second time I use this polish. Kid you not.
I then grabbed a handful of different colors and got a palette out for some mixing. The colors where as following (I don't have a step to step guide for this).
Sinful Colors - Exotic Green
Beauty UK - Glam Nails Nr. 67 - Bon Bon (sheer orange)
Claire's - 152 (sheer sheer bright yellow)

Since all the colors are somewhat sheer, they work great for this kind of projects.
Mix mix mix and look what we get.
Then I stamped using W7 - White.

And there we have it. A fresh, summer-y pirate manicure. For Mishkas manicure head over to Lacquer or Leave Her!.

Mini Birthday Haul

I have been on a mini haul for some new nail stuff for my upcoming birthday. Didn't buy much, just a few things.

I have restocked on Lemony Flutter from Lush, and a new pot of Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream.
My local Boots has gotten a Sinful Colors rack and I picked up these four beauties.

Kissy, Courtney Orange, Pink Forever, Exotic Green.

I have been wanting studs for a while, and I found some at my local Claire's.
They had a wheel with some black, silver and golden studs. I can't wait to try these out!
Finally I get myself some studs.

I feel like getting a Grunge-outfit and get all dressed up.

I wandered in a Bodycare shop and found this wheel with different heart fimos. There where also some bows in there. Happy me! I want to get hold of more bows for nailart. if you got a tips on where to buy them, etc on Ebay, send me a link down below.

I also found some nail art stack pots at New Look, they where £1.99 (2.50 euro).

I'm looking forward to my birthday. I'm gonna be a quarter of a century soon. Eek! It's a bit scary, but I'll get over it. From now on, I'm definitely no longer a child.  The big 25. Wish me luck.

In the Speed Of Life

So life here in Leominster is good. I like the area, and have been going on long Sunday trips with my Landlord. He is showing me all these fantastic places around here. I'm working on getting a job, and a work desk for my nail art, but for now, its all in boxes.

Lets be a bit crazy shall we?

Today's mani is made using 4 different polishes, a dotting tool, some stamping. I used Bundlemonster plate BM214.

If you ever consider layering/stamping anything over Orange-a-peel from KBShimmer. I would recommend using a topcoat between that, and what-ever goes over. Every time I have tried I have ended up smudging everything, even thou the layer seems dry (30 m - 1 h). Topcoat seems to hold it in place.

This manicure was inspired by my dear friend Mishka. She created this cute manicure stamping over a indie.
Using the same idea with orange, I created this.

Speed of Life

Speed of Life

Orange-a-peel, index and pinky.

Orange glitter from Claire's, on the two middle fingers

Stamped with BM214 ( had to redo two of my nails here, so i kept them in Speed of Life.

Misa - Chocolate Icing and a dotting tool

And that's it. What do you think?

Depression Awareness Nail Art

Greetings Girls.

Today I want to share with you a manicure I did for Depression Awareness. Usually one would see a Depression Awareness mani, with green in it, cause the Awareness logo is green.

To me, green represents Envy, and there is nothing to Envy when you're Depressed.

It's taken me a while do actually post this. First of all, cause it's very personal, and I wanted to make sure I didn't share too much. I suffer from Depression. I have for a very long time. I don't think I can remember a time where I wasn't. We all have our good and bad days. The last few years I have been luck to have fewer bad days. I don't take any medications for it, seeing my mom eat her pills like candy, kinda put me of. It's a choice I made. There is no right or wrong with Depression.

A few years ago, my mom was at a rehabilitating center, she would paint. Day out and day in. One of the pictures she made was beautiful. We sat in front of it for hours. She would tell me about all the colors she used, and why. That it was her depression, she had painted.
That's why I have chosen to recreate it, in a manicure.

For this manicure I used:
NYX - Matte Baby Pink
Beauty UK - Bon Bon
ESSIE - Aruba Blue
WnW - Tropicalia
Claire's - 152
Savina - Royalty
