Nail Wraps from Primark Review

Last week I posted about some nail wraps I had bought at Primark for a pound. You can see my pound-haul here.  One of my readers; Jemma from London Varnish, asked me to try the nail wraps

Let's see if we can satisfy the curiosity.

I started my manicure using three coats of Models Own - Golden Green Beetle Juice. It has to be applied in thin coats, or it ends up pooling, and never dries. So allow it to dry well between each coat.

Then I took out the nail wraps. Diamond shaped silver rhinestones in clear polish. It comes in 10 different size  2 wraps ea. and is for toes as well as your finger tips. Looking at the sizes most people will find something that fits them, and unless you got three times longer nails than me, you should be able to do quite a few manicures with this set. If you do have three times longer nails then me, this set will work for one full manicure. Either way, its good value for the money.

The wraps comes on wax paper, and the wraps themselves are jelly consistence, easy to take of and stick back on. Since they are jelly consistence they can be stretched a little bit, enough so that there will be no wrinkling if you have curved nails etc. but be easy with them, if you tug to hard they will break. I had one that broke, but when all the pieces got on the nail you couldn't even see it. Cut the leftovers, and file of any edges. No topcoat needed.

To sum this up, I would say I am very pleased with this product, I had a better experience with these wraps, that with any other brand-wraps I have tried. I could have been down to the jelly base, as the others I have tried was stiffer. I had no problems with lifting on these, they stayed put for two days until I had to redo my manicure, and that was not because of chipping or anything, just because I can't stand having the same manicure on days on end. 

I will get some back-ups of these wraps.

For a Pound?

This is going to be one of those odd little posts of stuff I have gotten for a pound.  I live in the UK, for now at least. There are stuff from Poundland, other pound-stores or Primark.

It was a bargain. It really was.
There I was at Pound-land, in front of me is the nail art / random girl section. It has glitters all over the place, someone has smudged a lipstick all over the shelf. But in-between all the smudges and dirt I see something shiny.

So ofcourse I had to pick them with me. I grabbed 3 packs with the Diamaté nail charms, in case I where to loose some, or give away. Good thing I did, cause by the time I got back home, I had lost one of them. 

Where did it go?

It could be number of places. The airport (where I dragged them out to look at them), at my friends house in Edinburgh, or in Bristol. No matter where it is, I am sure it will be taken good care of.

Much later on I was on a trip to town, and decided to take a look at Primarks. This is what I found there.

 First thing I noted about this haul from Primark was the nail file. At closer inspection you see this [picture below]. The numbers are all off. For why would you buff your nails before filing them? That seems odd to me. I took it out of the packaging and inspected it closer. 6 - 5 are for filing, 1-2 are of softer grit almost leather-y and works for even it all out. I would never ever ever in the world use 2 for smoothing out nail surface, it tugs on the surface, so it still has some grit to it.
3-4 are leather-y, and works great for buffing, and shining.

 If we look away from the obvious number-error, this is a great file. I have used it a while, and it's a cheap option instead of diving in and buying more expensive ones. I used to have one like this ages ago, on one of my earlier attempts to stop nail biting from Sally's which was about £5 or something. I remember it was my entire weekly allowance, so it must have been around the £5 mark.

I also picked with me these nail wraps. I'm usually not into nail wraps, I have done a few attempts of applying and using some, but I had to take these with me cause they have a clear base. My other nail wraps have been more foil-like in finish with overall blinding shine and would wrinkle on the nails and never set one even. I can actually see myself get some use out of these. Those little rhinestones are sitting neatly on a line, and I have tugged a bit in them and it seems like they would apply even. Looking forward to try that.

For another pound (£1.99) I got myself 500 ml of PVA glue. so  I will be testing out glue base for glitter manis. Really looking forward to that. Have you tried it? Which glitter where you the most happy for being able to wear without the hassle?

Urban Nails - Review and Swatch

I went to Primark in Manchester and found this little duo.

Let's get our hands dipped in, and see how it looks.

First thing that I notice is that the main color in this set is a sheer sheer jelly. In the description on the back of the box it says to use two coats. Looking at the illustration, you can see that there is no way you will be getting that kind of coverage with two coats. I went on and used 4-5 coats to make it cover more like on the picture. So you get the idea how sheer it is. 

The glitter polish has white and black bar glitters, and white and black medium hex glitters, and tiny tiny round white and black glitters. The description on the box says to use one coat with glitter. 

Primark Haul

I have been to Primark in Manchester and I found a couple of things there that they don't have at my local one. Nail -stuff. Oh yeah.
Can't wait to try these out. Gonna be so cool.

14g of beads and a nail polish for £2.50,- not bad.

The polish reminds me of Sally Hansen - Brilliant Blush. Will be interesting to see how it preforms. The guide on the back says to use two coats of it before adding the beads. 

The glitter in this set has white and black bar glitters, and black and white round glitters. To be honest it looks like another "sticks and stones" dupe. I recently bought Maybelline - Chalk Dust, but though I should pick up this one as well, since this has the white bar glitters as well, and not as many different sizes to the other glitters. Worth having both. 

Browsing the wed I could not find a single entry about this set, so I was excited to see how they where going to preform. A swatch will be posted this weekend, so stay tuned. 

The instructions on the back says using 2 coats before adding the glitter polish.
