(TAG) Confessions Of A Nail Polish Addict

Hi everyone!

I saw this tag over at Brit Nails , and I decided to jump on it, and do one as well.
If you are reading this, consider yourself tagged.

1. What nail are you wearing on your nails (and toes) right now?
Right now, I am wearing Barry M - Silk - Forest. I have had it for a while and was feeling in the mood for something a bit darker than what I have been sporting lately. Swatch will be up soon-ish.

As for my toes...

7 months ago, I had a little accident involving a knife and my big toes. I was doing dishes and it slipped out of my hand, and fell tip first on my toe, just below the cuticle line, bounched off and landed on my other toe. What are the odds?!

It didn't cut off anything but I got a huge bruise under my nails, and they have been black every since. They are finally getting close to having grown all the way out, but there is a huge dent between the old nail and the new one coming out, So, to not make it noticeable I have hidden my toes ever since.

I just hope they will be fine for my holiday this summer...

2. What is one nail product you can't live without?
Lush Lemon Flutter, that stuff is seriously God-sent. It smells amazing, and feels great.

Lush - Lemon Flutter

3. What is your favorite nail polish brand (mainstream and indie)?
By looking at my collection I would have to say Barry M. I always get excited whenever they are coming out with a new collection, and it's the first shelf that I check out whenever I go to Boots.

I don't really have a lot of indies.. but I would have to say Cult Nails for that one. They have a special place in my heart, and makes me all giddy inside whenever I decided to wear it.

4. What kind of nail shape do you wear (short or long)?
My nails are somewhere between squoval and oval, with a little bit of free-edge. As I spend most my days in front of a computer, and do a lot of typing, it's hard on my tips.

5. What is your go-to color?
Living on the Emerald Isle, makes me lean towards picking green for my talons. I also have a weakness for purples and blues..

6. What is your favorite nail polish finish?
Cremes, most of my collection is based on cremes.

7. What's on your nail polish wish list?
I am trying to scout of more indies for my stash. There are so many great ones out there, and I am just getting on my feet financially after not having worked for 3 years, so I am trying to be careful, and take things slow.

8. When do you usually paint your nails?
After I have made dinner on weekdays, and in the morning with my morning-cuppa, and around lunchtimes when the sun is good for pictures.

9. What's your top nail tip that you swear by?
Moisturize. Like, ALL THE TIME.

I keep argan oil in a small polish bottle in the office, with Burt Bees Hand Salve, as the office is very drying on my nails and cuticles. And I have a small sampler size tub of Lush Lemon Flutter in my handbag, and at my desk and nail station at home.

10. What nail polish do you regret buying?

Without a doubt YSL - Bleu Majorelle.

Not that it isn't a great polish, it goes on like butter, and the cobalt blue is great, but the YSL gave me the worse stained nails I have ever seen. I also found some dupes for it, so it rests in it original box in my drawers.

YSL - Bleu Majorelle

11. Neons or pastels? Brights or darks?
I don't have a lot of neons and pastels, though lately I have been getting a lot more pastels than previously. Looking at my collection there is a huge variety in the shades that are present.

12. What is your holy grail white, black and neutral polish?
Sinful Color - Snow Me White. I am on my third bottle, and got several backups for it. I have tried several other pure whites, but I always fall back on this one.

Sinful Color - Snow Me White and Franken - EmOzean with black striper

Wet N Wild - Black Creme I love it for stamping, and since I never really wear black nail polish alone, it has only been used for stamping purposes or as undies for other polishes. It works great for that. If I was going to sport a black polish to wear alone, I would go with Essie - Licorice.

As for a nude, I am still working on finding my "holy grail" nude polish. I recently bought a whole load of them, as you might have noticed on my blog. There are plenty more to come.

Barry M - Matte - Vanilla  with flower stamp from BornPrettyStore - Y013

Barry M - Gelly - Lychee with black french tips and stamp from Moyou London Scholar Collection

13. What is one brand you want to try but haven't yet?
Dance Legends, Butter London, Hare, Delush Polish.. the list goes on and on.

10 or more Nail Polish Tag!

I have always wanted to make a tag, and while I was catching up on my YT-videos, I got this great idea for a tag. There is a similar tag out for makeup, but not a single one for nail polish addicts. So I decided to go ahead and do that. If you are reading this, consider yourself tagged!

If you have a huuuge collection (my collection just passed 350), feel free to make it just about the ones you have the most of.

The tag is about the brands we seem to have the most of in our collections, that we bought with our own money, and went back to purchase more of.  Within the brand, which ones are your favorite?

Sinful Color

My favorites: Savage and Snow Me White.
I use Snow Me white for stamping (mainly) I just love it for that, and have several backups . Savage was a polish from Sinful Color that completely surprised me. I bought it last summer, and hadn't used it, or even swatched it, so one day I decided to try it out, and was blown away over how cool this polish is. It doesn't look it in the bottle, but it transfers to this gorgeous matte shade.

W7

My favorites: Golden Suede, Aqua Suede, and Mauve Suede.
I fell in love with the whole Suede -thing last summer. And these three was the reason for it. I got them at my local Factory Store, and bought the whole collection. Can't really go wrong when they are only £ 2 ea. This brown looking suede wasn't brown at all, but this gorgeous golden toned with silver shimmer, perfect for backgrounds or just alone. I was sold. I actually did a Steampunk nail art using this golden shade. If you type "golden Suede" in the search bar you can find the post.

Essie

My favorites: Aruba Blue, and Trophy Wife

Aruba Blue and Trophy Wife was the first polishes I got from Essie. I  had just landed a small bonus, and I burned it all up on polishes. Aruba Blue is gorgeous cool toned intense blue. It's super bright, and just makes you long for an extended vacation. Trophy Wife is such a complex colour and it works great with my skin tone. Whenever I wear it, it makes me stretch my hands and admire my nails .

China Glaze

Ruby Slippers, Luxe and Lush and For Audrey.

For Audrey, I don't think I need to explain that one. We all get it, right? It was also my first lemming.  Second lemming was Ruby Slippers (I love Wizard of Oz, and just NEEDED this in my life), third lemming, which I had to work very hard to get, was Luxe and Lush. It's finally mine. The shipping was a killer, but it's now mine.

Misa

My favorites: A Sin Worth Commiting, Toxic Seduction, and Like it like that.
Thanks to a nail polish - angel, also calle Mishka from Lacquer or Leave Her! I have Misa polishes. These three are my favorites. A Sin Worth Commiting for the AMAZING blue colour. It's like a winter night sky, or Disney type magic, or something along those lines. The other two, simply cause i love green. Like it like that, is slightly not so green but teal-ish.. But somewhere in the midle there.

OPI

My favorites: Live or Let Die, and Spotted.

I have to admit, I have not tried any of the crackles from OPI I just own them. I'm a bad blogger. I should try them... Live or Let Die was a lemming, and whenever I was out flying, I was constantly looking for it, but they where always sold out, until... one day... I think I left from Manchester on Terminal 1 (or it might have been that time I flew to Dublin.. or Italy... anyhow.. it was last year. I found it. Wait, I think I remember. I think it was the Oslo airport... or Rygge... Darn it. I can't remember.
Anyhow. I own OPI Spotted, cause everyone have been raving about it. I haven't actually used this one either. (ooopsie) come to think about it, I have only tried OPI - Live or Let Die...

Models Own

My favorites: Mystic Mauve, Gold Rush and Golden Green Beetle Juice.

I love these polishes for some simple reason. One is a green, and the other two... well I made a gradient with them, and it was perfect. So I love them. I don't know if you can see it, but in the top picture half of my Models Own polishes are still intact in their original plastic wrapper. Until I use them, they will remain so.

Barry M

My favorites: Watermelon, Racing Green and Emerald Green.
Green!!!!!!!! Yupp. I love Watermelon, because its AMAZI-BALLZ, and the other two are gorgeous greens.

H&M

My favorites: Deep Deep Water, and Fantasy Ocean.

I don't really think all those minis count, but I included them anyway. My favorites are these two from the Ocean trio. I did a manicure using all three, but only fell in love with these two. One if a gorgeous purple/blue (blurple), and the other one is a teal/green thing with golden undertones and shimmer.

There you have it. My favorites within the brands I have 10 or more polishes in. If you do this tag, feel free to add it in the comment section below, I would love to see what your favorites are.

Tag: My boyfriend does my nails (aka Inspired By a Movie)

Sorry for MIA lately, I have now moved into my flat, and is started to get settled in. I finally got internet here, which took forever. Mostly cause I had to wait for an installer to drag the line into the flat, and wait for there to be one that was available. Due to all the flooding here in UK, that took its time.

I wanted to do something fun, and this tag is something I have been wanting to do for a while. So after an eternity of trying to get him on-board for this (which only took 3 sec), we sat down and doodles on my nails. This is what he came up with.

For background colour, we used Nordic Cap - NP07, which is a bright orange, and Essie - Bobbing For Baubles for accent. Using the accent colour to create the design.

He choose the symbols from the Firefly - Serenity movie.

In the future, a spaceship called Serenity is harboring a passenger with a deadly secret. Six rebels on the run. An assassin in pursuit. When the renegade crew of Serenity agrees to hide a fugitive on their ship, they find themselves in an awesome action-packed battle between the relentless military might of a totalitarian regime who will destroy anything - or anyone - to get the girl back and the bloodthirsty creatures who roam the uncharted areas of space. But, the greatest danger of all may be on their ship.Written by Anthony Pereyra (from IMDB)

Tag: You're it! Spooktacular

Hi everyone!

I got tagged by Mishka from Lacquer or Leave Her! Thank you so much for thinking of me when you got this tag. It was some very interesting questions. Really Spooktacular.

Here are the questions:

1) Do you still Trick or Treat?

It's not a tradition in Norway to Trick or Treat on Halloween. It happens that some kids do it now a-days, but not when I was a child.

2) Do you like going to haunted attractions?

I get scared easily, so I tend to shy away from haunted attractions, even mirror houses scares me. Silly isn't it?

3) Favorite Halloween treat you look forward to getting?

I have never had a candy corn, and intend to have one every year, but forgets all about it. What I do love however is being able to buy loads and loads of candy without having the cashier raise an eyebrow.

4) Favorite Halloween movie?

I had to twist my head for this one, and I came to lay my eyes on my shelf that stores movies, and it seems I have quite a few Halloween movies. Tim Burton is a huge favorite of mine, as classics like Frankenwienie (is that how it's spelled?), The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride (does that one count?) and Dracula, Let The Right One In, (any vampire movie, really), and Hocus Pocus.

5) Favorite scary movie?

I suppose both Hocus Pocus. Frankenwienie and Let The Right One In, would classify as "scary movies". Scarier than that I can not take.

6) Favorite costume you wore as a child?

I love dressing up, as a child I did not get to dress up a lot, but as I grew older, I have had, and attended to  several costume parties. I love the most to dress up in 50's dresses.

7) A costume you would like to dress up as if you could go back to your childhood?

I would love to be able to dress up as a mermaid when I was a child. You can get those H2O-tails in the US (never seen them available around here), and I know I would just love to be able to wear something like that as a child.

8) Do you decorate your house for Halloween?

Yes I do. I have this 7 feet tall Jack The Skeleton (The Nightmare Before Christmas) teddy. Complete in his PJ's. I love it dearly, and every year he gets a special seat in the windows, looking out.
One year, I placed him in my ex car, holding the steering wheel , the neighbors kept taking pictures of him, and he even made a note in the local newspaper, sadly I only heard of this, and never actually got a copy of this.  It makes a good story non the less. I might add some carved pumpkins with candlelight now and then, but Jack is my main decoration.

9) Do you have a festive background on your phone or computer?

The only festivities I have a special background for it Christmas. I love Christmas so so much.

10) What are your plans for this Halloween night?

I do not have any plans yet, I have heard talk of a party, but not seen any invitations yet.

11) If you have a pet what would you like to dress it up as (if you don't have a pet, you can say your sister or brother)?

I do not have any pets, but my last landlord had a cat, his name was Chance. A cute little thing, white as snow, and deaf like a bat. I have always pictured my landlord dressed up as Blofeld from the James Bond movies. Chance is a bit skinny for the role, but I think one can look past that.

Picture borrowed from Codajoy
I got 3 brothers and 1 sister, so to answer the question correctly...
I would dress one of my brothers up as Edward Scissorhands. He got the same skinny body and rugged hair, I am sure he would to an excellent Edward Scissorhands.

12) What is your least favorite sweets you would never want to receive when you go trick or treating?

I love candies, but there are a few things i just can not stand.Orange Chocolate, and rum filled chocolates topping the list. I just can not stand the thing. It's a violation against all things chocolate.

13) Favorite Halloween decoration?

Candles, candles and more candles. I love candles. Pumpkins are cool as well.

14) Favorite Halloween song?

Danny Elfmann makes amazing music, he was the one that did the music for Corpse Bride, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, and the list goes on. If Tim Burton did it, Danny Elfmann made the music. That relationship just speaks Halloween to me. Perfect combination.

15) Favorite Halloween makeup look? (insert picture if you can)

Usually I will dress up like something out of a Cartoon (once did Team Rocket from Pokemon), or I dress up as some kind of witch. Resulting in not so much makeup, but every year I look at youtube videos about halloween makeup.  This year I am loving the looks from Kandee Johnson.

I am going to give a general tag to all you lovely girls out there, if you choose to do this tag, feel free to add your link below. I hope to see some of you pick this up and run it.

Have an epic Halloween.

The Secretary.
