IsaDora - Silk Road

There's been a lot of green and sparkly nail polishes lately, and this one is no exception.
I present to you, Silk Road from IsaDora.
Silk Road  is a part of the autumn collection; Jewel of the Orient. Last week I showed you Oasis, from the same collection. I also bought Polar Nights.

I wore it alone for a day, then I added striper tape, but mid day the ends had lifted just a little bit, so I added some silver between the tape, and pulled them away.
So it will be 2 nail arts in one post!!

  5. I have a Lip Smacker in every jacket, purse and pair of jeans the I own. The one infront of my computer right now ( found it in my pocket) is Watermelon.
  6. The only Norwegian product I miss, is "Norvegia". Cheese.

Mishkas Questions

  1. What's the last book you read? - I am currently re-reading "Lies of Locke Lamora" by Scott Lynch. I normally don't re-read books but this one was really good, and rumor has it, it is going to be a movie. I hope they cast Johnny Depp as the Thief-maker.
  2. What's the last movie you saw? - "Scott Pilgrim vs The World". It was on TV few hours ago. :) Last movie in the Cinema was "The Hobbit".
  3. If money were no object, what would your dream vacation be? - I would travel for a city-vacation to Tokyo. Rent a room at a hotel that had a swimming pool high up above the street, with a view over the city-life.
  4. Who is your favorite famous artist? - Ed Sheeran. When I hear A-Team for the first time I had chills. 100-times later I still get the chills of hearing him sing.
  5. When you're sad, what do you do to make yourself feel better? - I do a number of things. If I have jelly in the house I will make some, and go poking it when it's done. Seeing that thing wobble makes me giggle. If not, I might put on some music; dance a little. Cook something nice, or just go an watch a movie, or go for a walk.
  6. What is/are your favorite polish(es)? - This is a tricky one. I love looking at the bottle to Max Factor - Fantasy Fire (only used it once, no haven't made it to my top 10 polishes to wear). I love my Wet And Wild - Black Creme, I use it a lot. Every time you see me stamp with black, that's the one I use. For nudes I love using Fnug - Fashion Show, and ESSIE - Trophy Wife is probably my favorite color to wear.
  7. If you could have a blog on another other topic (not nail-related), what would it be? - I would spend a lot more time on my geek-blog. Do long posts about tech related items, and gadgets.
  8. If you could meet anyone living or dead, who would it be? - There is one I would like to meet. Mishka, cause she is an amazing friend, and been there for me when I needed it. She deserves a big hug, and cake, let's not forget about cake.
  9. Batman or Superman? - Batman!
  10. Leather or lace? - Laces. Definitively laces.
  11. What do you want to be when you grow up? - Aiming at being a Secretary. I think it suits me.

Let them eat Cake!

I am back with the twinposts with Mishka at Lacquer or Leave Her!   Before our break we got to plate CH40, in the Cheeky Girl set. and today we will be showing you different ways of using the cake print from CH41.
Mishka choose to do a pop-art mani, you can see her manicure by clicking the link.

I went for something a bit more ordinary and did a neutral background and used the full image.
I used Fnug - Fashion Show, as background, and sponged KIKO - 373 on the tips, and stamped using ESSIE - Little Brown Dress.

I say like Marie Antoinette: Let them eat Cake.

Have a great weekend everyone!

O is for Oasis by IsaDora

Today I have another "green" polish for you girls. It's IsaDora - Oasis. Oasis is a part of the autumn collection;  Jewel of the Orient. I picked up 3 polishes from this collection on my trip to Norway, around Christmas.

I call  this polish green, cause to me it look like it has a lot of green shimmer to it. I have seen others describing it in a different matter (olivegreen with microglitter, black base with microglitter, brown with golden and blue shimmer etc..), but next to OPI - Live and Let Die, Linda Johansen - Brookside Moss, I feel this polish fits right in with them.
To me Oasis is a blackened green base with green, blue, turquoise, pink and golden shimmer.

Let's take a look.

What do you think?

OPI - Live And Let Die

I am on a green nail polish roll here. The next polish I wanted to show you from my green box, is OPI - Live And Let Die. I really love this. It's a one coater, and dries quick, and is just gorgeous.

Live and Let Die is from OPI’s Skyfall 007 collection, and was the only polish in the collection that caught my eyes. It's a blackened green with golden shimmer.

Linda Johansen - Brookside Moss

I have a thing for 'green' every now and then. Where I just crave using green on my nails.
To me, wearing green polish is almost the same as wearing red for others. It feels classy, and makes your nails look gorgeous no matter what.

I used 2 coats on the pictures, and all pictures are taken in direct sunlight.

S is for Shredded Jeans

I just loved this nail art as soon as I got the idea.
When I had made it, I was even more thrilled over it. I think it looks really good on me.
Something about the shimmer in the light grey color, and the intense white. If the background color had been pink it would have looked like Cotton Candy I am sure.
In fact, I think I might try that out one day. Who knows (?) I might like it.

I have been looking at my fan brush for ages, wanting to use it for something, not sure what "something" was suppose to be, but now(!) I will definitely go back and try this technique again.
This is not the last you see if it.

First two pictures are taken in direct sunlight, just changing the angle on my nails slightly to show of the basecolor completely, and the next is before topcoat is applied, and last one is with topcoat.

I used a topcoat I bought from BornPrettyStore, it has strengthener in it, and works well for not smearing nail art. but using it to often will make my nails like bricks, and they will make load sounds when then snap. Creepy, yes.

L is for Lamppost

I have been wondering for a while what to do with the letters L and N in Llama Nails ABC Challenge I am doing. And then it just hit me.
I would do a Narnia lamppost. I felt so proud of myself for coming up with the idea. A took a swatching wheel and tried to nail a lamppost on them first, tried different background, and I decided to use A England - Tristam, in the end.

I love the fact that A England is a one-coater. It covers so well, it's amazing.

KIKO - Magnetic Nail Lacquer - 705 - Emerald Turquoise

M for Magnetic Nail Polish

I have recently been to Italia, Rome. And could not go there without picking up some KIKO nail polishes.

I have been looking at Magnetic Polishes for a while, but never really gotten into it. This time I decided to pick up a few colors, and a magnet and see if it was for me.

KIKO - Nail Art Magnet - 01 Stripes
KIKO - Magnetic Nail Lacquer - 705 - Emerald Turquoise

This was fun playing around with. I found out that thin layers did better. So I did first one thin layer, allowed it to dry a bit, and added another layer over. Then I held the magnet over for 20 sec. The package says to hold it over for atleast 7 sec, but I found them to be better after 20 sec. Index finger had the magnet over for 7 sec, the other nails had 20 sec.

First picture is taken in sunlight, the second is taken indoors with artificial lights.

Hex the Blues

I felt like wearing my franken polish again, and this time I added some blue hex glitters at the border on my middlefinger as an accent. I made this half a year ago, you can see the post here.

I like how the blue color in the hex matches the blue shade in the polish. It's pretty much spot on.

Its such a high-shine polish, it never fails to make me happy.
I wonder if it would look cool with random blue hexes in the bottle?

FNUG - Fashion Show

I needed something neutral, and nice for a job interview, and I opted for one for my FNUG polishes. This one is called Fashion Show. When it comes to office-nails this is my favorite. I have worn it previously, you can see the post here and an other version here.

The color is easy to work with, it needs two coats, and dries fast. If you are sensitive to smells, this might be a polish to look into, I find the scent to be lighter than a lot of my other polishes.

Added a few nail stickers I got from Ebay on my nails, and I was ready to impress.
